Well, In fact there's no padding at all in there. They are, just very tight trousers... and actually are split (or should I say, ripped) under the crouch. Quite why this is, I don't know. Maybe that's a question for the next convention... > Go on, go on... Seriously, details on costuming and props are of > interest not just to the utterly obsessed, but to fanfic writers who > want to get the details right, and costumers. The Exhibition Catalogue > is certainly useful, but a detailed costume manual would be a jolly nice > thing (smiles sweetly). I have thought about the idea of doing a book on "The Art of Blake's 7". This would cover not only costumes, but Visual effects, Make-up and Production design. I do have a lot of material and photos that has never been printed before, most of these have come to light after Sheelagh and Joe did their book. But to be honest, it comes down to money. To do a book that would do this material justice, it would have to be a glossy, very photo intensive, coffee table style book, using a lot of colour. Therefore, expensive! However, now with the repeats, and if enough people show interest and support for it, now would be the optimum time to do it. So if you want it, let me know. It will cost a lot of money to print the minimum amount, and will only get done, if we know we can sell them. Andy. PS ANOTHER BORING FACT... The stud that is missing from Avon Black leather (Killer) outfit, is the first one up his left arm. hmm... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2000 20:15:10 -0700 From: Penny Dreadful To: blakes7@lysator.liu.se Subject: Re: [B7L] Avon's Leathers... T-II I mean of course. The corrugated uniform. The > fabuloriffic boots. I certainly hope they are in good hands... Hmm... not good! The cosy in question got quite badly cut up during Travis' last scenes. First of all, there was a great big hole blown in it for the effect when he is shot by Blake. Then poor old (young) Brian had to wear a harness underneath the skin tight jumpsuit, hoisted up on wires, and spun like a wind chime (there was no other way, but to slash holes into the costume for the wires to come through, and this was done in a hurry as there was not much recording time left). If you look carefully you can see the large gapping holes as he spins. As for the costume now, It was probably discarded then, it has never come up at any auction, and is certainly not in the BBC now. About a year ago I spent about 7 hours going through their remaining stock (they had to clear space, and had many auctions and then moved to new premises), there's hardly any Blake's 7 stuff in there now (and before you ask, there just a couple of blue metallic ZVP overalls and about three "Children of Auron" long white outfits, nothing major). I do have the brown high collared "Outlaw" outfit. There are actually two of these, one nice one, and another made slightly bigger in the waist and a detachable sleeve (Gambit), strangely this one doesn't have a collar. If you look at "Gambit" you can tell the change over of cosys as the collar just disappears. The 1st season Travis costume has never turned up either. There are a few more costume places that it, and others, may still be. It takes time, and to be honest most of the Blake's 7 costumes were kept in the same warehouse. I've never tracked down any of the 1st season thermal landing outfits (except for Avon's silver parker), or any of Gan's stuff! There was an auction at Longleat in 1983 (during the celebrations for Doctor Who's 20th anniversary), several lots of B7 stuff were sold off at the end of the DW stuff, I wasn't there and not much documentary proof of what was sold exists. If anyone does have any information, please let me know. Andy. Was there voice-over describing the upcoming episode? Did they play bits in which Avon insulted someone? Were the shoot-outs and fights part of the promos? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! I didn't get to Deliverance, but I treasure my copy of the Exhibition Catalogue, and I loved hearing about the exhibition from friends who were in attendance. Thank you for organizing it.
